Nostalgia N' Things (Tom and Jerry)

 Time to talk about one of my favorite cartoon series as a kid Tom and Jerry.

 I'm sure Tom and Jerry needs no introduction to you the reader, but because I'm a rambler and I feel like it I'll give you one anyways ! Tom and Jerry was the brainchild of legendary animation figures William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The idea was simple a cat and mouse cartoon. An idea which was considered quite ridiculous by their fellow co workers at MGM's cartoon studio. After all there had been many, many, many cat and mouse cartoons made by that point, but never the less the two crafted a cartoon known as "Puss Gets The Boot" which subsequently released in 1940. 

Despite what everyone was telling them about how terrible their idea was the cartoon was a huge hit with theater going audiences and after cartoon studio head Fred Quimby got a call from an important Texas film distributor asking for more cartoons featuring the two the series continued. The cartoons became very popular and are still popular to this day. With all sorts of reboots and re imaginings of the characters, (mostly crap) being produced over the years.

 Now for my story with the cartoons. Growing up Tom and Jerry were constantly and consistently on TV via Cartoon Network and Boomerang. So I saw them a lot as a kid. The real memories come from watching them at my grandparents house back in the day, specifically with my grandfather who referred to them as "The Cat and The Rat." Spent many summers over there doing that and this was back when the "non pc" cartoons with the black maid character were still being regularly being re ran.

 Albeit the versions with the re-dubbed voice to make it less "non pc."

 Nowadays I have new found appreciation for the Tom and Jerry cartoons. There's a lot to enjoy in them the great animation, music, and of course all the wonderful violence !
